How Does Hydration Affect Fertility?

Your muscles are made up of 70% water. Every one of your cells depends on water to function. Your organs depend on water to be able to flush toxins from all of your systems. And, understandably, your reproductive organs are no different.

Your overall health plays an important role in whether you become pregnant. Fertility hinges on your body’s ability to produce a healthy egg. Women who are severely malnourished or unhealthy might not ovulate at all. By drinking enough water, you increase your overall health, which increases fertility.

Water plays an important role in the process of becoming pregnant because water is necessary for cell division, metabolism and reproduction. The cells of the uterine wall must be healthy for the egg to implant. Cells within the fertilized egg must have access to water in order to divide and become your future baby. Drinking water is a simple way to ensure the health of your uterus.

Try adding fruits and herbs to not only alter the taste, but also add more nutrients!

“The World Health Organization recommends between 2.0 and 2.7 liters (8 to 11 cups) of water a day for women, and 2.5 to 3.7 liters (10 to 15 cups) a day for men. This includes water from all sources, not just beverages. We get about a liter from food and the water our body makes. I personally add Pink Himalayan salt to every bottle of water I drink. “This might sound counter-intuitive, but a little salt taken with water is effective in helping the water to access the cells. It helps clean and flush them out, taking with them cellular wastes and waste products as well as hydrating the cells. This is proper hydration.” (Spring Fertility)


Here’s The Sole Recipe for Maximising your Hydration from Spring Fertility:

You will need:

  • A small jar
  • Good quality Pink Himalayan Salt or Celtic Sea salt
  • Filtered Water

How to use Sole:

  • Starting out, use 1 teaspoon of the clear salty solution and put into a glass of filtered water. Do this once a day. You don’t need more than this at this stage.
  • I like to use the Sole in sparkling water for a refreshing twist
  • Or once adding the Sole to the glass of drinking water, I like to add a squeeze of fresh lemon or lime, or fresh herbs such as rosemary.
  • Drink it first thing in the morning before breakfast, or last thing at night.
  • Drink it 20 min before meals, as it aids digestion.
