Benefits of Pink Himalayan Salt

We are always hearing about how salt is bad for us and we need to monitor our salt intake. Especially when trying to get pregnant or healthy, right? Well let me introduce you to Pink Himalayan rock salt, love. It will change your life!

I recently had been fighting a headache for 3 weeks. It wasn’t a debilitating one, but lights hurt and sound hurt and I was constantly nauseous. Napping didn’t help, caffeine didn’t help, sitting in the quiet helped a little, but not much. Even warm showers didn’t help!

I dislike taking medications, which is how I learned about using Pink Himalayan Salt for my headaches about 3 years ago. (I honestly had forgotten that I had it in the cabinet, which is why I had been in pain for 3 weeks!) I was doing something in my cabinet, and found the bottle. I was so excited!

When I use the crystal form from the spices section at the grocery store, I usually put about 4 crystals in a bottle of water. Currently I have the fine ground form, which is just slightly coarser than regular table salt. When I use the ground, I add a couple pinches. Just enough that I can taste it in the water.

I add the salt to every bottle of water I drink while the headache persists. It’s never taken more than 2 full bottles with the PHS added and this time was no exception. 1.5 bottles and my headache of 3 weeks was GONE!!! (I can attest that it wasn’t what most would think of as dehydration because I normally drink 4 to 5 bottles of water a day anyway.)

Why do I tell you this? Because when you are trying to get your health back under control, whether you are trying to conceive or not, hydration is a BIG part of it. And I wanted to share my method for not only getting re-hydrated, but also for making sure I get the right minerals and electrolytes into my body. It’s a great substitute for table salt, goes well in almost all foods, and of course, a medicine-free headache remedy can come in handy in any phase of your fertility journey!

So let’s look into the benefits of Pink Himalayan Salt.

1. Rich in Minerals

Consider adding a bit of Himalayan Pink Salt to some meals each week. It truly doesn’t take much, so start with a small amount. Himalayan Pink Salt is rich in more than 84 minerals such as calcium, magnesium, potassium, copper, and iron. It is also an adequate source of iodine for thyroid health. This salt is a beautiful pink color.

2. Helps to Balance Blood Sugar Levels

Himalayan Salt contains (84) minerals, 4 of which are known key factors in maintaining balanced blood sugar levels:

Chromium: Chromium’s main function is to turn carbohydrates into glucose. It also helps in the regulation and production of insulin. Without chromium in the body insulin would not be able to work properly.

Vanadium: Vanadyl sulfate, a salt of the mineral vanadium (vanadium oxysulfate), has demonstrated insulin-like effects on glucose metabolism in both animal and human trials. Clinical studies found a significant decrease in insulin requirements by patients with both insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus and non-insulin-dependent diabetes.

Manganese: Maintains blood glucose levels in the normal range: it’s used in treating diabetes and hypoglycemia

Magnesium: Helps in the digestion of sugar, starches and fats and also stabilizes blood sugar levels.

3. Naturally Promotes Healthy Sleep

As mentioned, Himalayan salt helps with blood sugar regulation, plus it contains magnesium which has been shown to help promote feelings of calm. This combination is a great way to promote better sleep. At night before bed, either drink Himalayan salt in a glass of water or add it to a favorite nighttime beverage. Add just enough salt so that the solution is not overwhelming.

4. Creates A Healthy Libido

If all of the reasons above are not enough to incorporate Himalayan salt into your diet, maybe this one will do the trick. If you suffer from low libido and can’t seem to figure out the cause, you may be lacking in some important minerals that increase sex drive such as selenium, zinc and magnesium. All the more reason to incorporate Himalayan salt into your daily routine.


Easily Add Himalayan Salt to Your Diet

Note: Let sole sit on the counter overnight before use. If the salt is completely absorbed, add some more and let it sit for another night. If there is still some salt in the solution, your sole is ready to use.
